Hi! My name is João and welcome to my world.
Introduction | Bio
I graduated from the University of Évora in 2014 with a degree in Visual Arts and Multimedia. With nearly a decade in the animation industry, I've got quite the journey to share.
During my college days, I landed a spot for a professional internship at RTP Academy, where I crafted my very first short film and kicked off my animation career.
In 2016, I took my talents abroad, working on projects in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Stuttgart, Germany, and Dublin, Ireland. I got to collaborate with big names like BBC, Cartoon Network, and Netflix.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, I made the decision to return to Portugal and dove into freelancing for various international clients.
In 2021, I won the start-up competition the Ideia em Caixa. The next year, I set up Fly Moustache animation studio in Faro. We specialize in 2D animation and have partnered up with local institutions like the University of Algarve's Animated Image Course.
Since 2022, I've been wearing multiple hats as a director and producer at Fly Moustache Studio. And just recently, I was asked to lend my expertise as an assistant professor at the University of Algarve, helping bridge the gap between academia and the real-world animation industry.
Consider this intro a sneak peek into my journey of over a decade in the animation biz. Stay tuned for more in the coming chapters.
